DEMOREST, Ga. – Officials in Demorest, Ga., voted this week to allow legally permitted employees to carry a concealed weapon on the job.

Mayor Rick Austin says he pushed for a change to an existing city policy that prohibited weapons because he felt it violated employees’ Second Amendment Rights, reports HabershamNow.com.

The City Council approved the gun measure Tuesday, along with several stipulations.

An employee who carries a concealed weapon must notify their supervisor in writing, pass state requirements to carry a concealed weapon and obtain training from Demorest’s police chief, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
