VALDOSTA, Ga.— Gulf South Conference named Valdosta State’s Logan Hill their Player of the Week after an impressive .429 hit average in a 4-1 weekend. This is the second week in a row a VSU player has received this honor.

Logan Hill Tabbed GSC Weekly Best
VALDOSTA, Ga. – Coming off an outstanding weekend, Valdosta State softball senior Logan Hill was named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This is Hill’s first weekly honor of the season and first of her career. This is the second-straight weekly honor for the Blazers this season, as senior Jordenne Gaten was tabbed weekly-best last week.
The No. 24 Blazers went 4-1 last weekend at the Old Coast Classic, hosted by Flagler University. Hill, a Lake Park, Ga., native, hit .429 for the weekend to lead the team. She went 6 of 14 from the dish with five runs scored, one double, three home runs and six RBI. She slugged 1.143 and reached base at a .529 clip with three walks. Hill had 36 putouts with no errors on the weekend.
Hill has a seven-game hitting streak and went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, three RBI and two home runs in a 7-5 win last weekend over Embry-Riddle. It was her first multi-hit game of the season. She followed that up with a solo home run to open a five-run, fourth inning in the 5-0 win over Wingate to close the tournament.
For the season, Hill is second on the team in average at .381 on 8 of 21 from the dish. She has scored six runs with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI. Hill is slugging .905 to lead the team, while reaching base at a .500 clip with four walks and one hit batsmen. She has 50 putouts in 52 chances with no errors and two assists.
Hill and the Blazers open the 2020 home slate Saturday at 1 p.m. at Steel’s Diamond at Blazer Park versus Gulf South Conference foe Shorter in a three-game series. The series is set for the doubleheader Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
