VALDOSTA – On the heels of consecutive season-high scoring efforts, Blazer Basketball guard Beau Justice was awarded the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honor this week in an announcement by the league office on Tuesday.
“Beau is one of those kids that earns everything because he playes so hard and works so hard,” said Head Coach Mike Helfer. “He also puts an enormous amount of time in at the gym working on his game. Honestly, we have a lot of guys that love to be in the gym, which says a lot about the commitment of our players this year.”
For two of last week’s three contests, Justice was practically unstoppable on the offensive end of the floor. He averaged over 21 points per game during a week that culminated with a 31-point performance in a South Region win over Lynn on Saturday in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The three-game effort for the sophomore produced a 53.7 percent shooting percentage from the field. Even more impressive, however, was Justice’s accuracy from beyond the arc, where he buried 12-of-23 attempts for a 52.2 percentage.
Justice helped lead the Blazers to two wins against just one loss on the week, adding 10 rebounds, five steals, and a perfect 8-of-8 shooting effort from the free throw line.
The Blazers will return to action on Thursday night to host the Pirates of Armstrong Atlantic. VSU will enter the game with four wins in their last five games, while the Pirates will come to Valdosta sporting a four-game winning streak. Tip time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga.
