VSU Women’s Cross Country Claims Sixth Place

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Valdosta State women’s cross country team claimed 6th place on Saturday morning in Huntsville, Ala. at the 2016 UAH Chargers Cross Country Invitational.

The Blazers collected 156 points and secured a 6th place finish out of 15 competing teams during the 5k race.

Tyra Holloway led the pack with an outstanding overall time of 19:02.96. Holloway demonstrated an impressive 6:08 pace during the contest which fashioned a 2nd place overall finish in the event.

Meghan McShea (19:51.12) and Mary Alice Smoot (20:11.00) highlighted a solid performance and earned a 23rd and 32ndfinish, respectively. Lily Kloepfer displayed great efforts with a total time of 20:55.09 which produced a 49th finish. Kelly McHugh (21:07.42) and Jacinda Miller (21:35.59) challenged each other as they went on and claimed a, respective, 57th and 59th place in the contest. Catherine Kuras (21:39.65) kept a steady pace which allowed her to clinch 73rd place. Meanwhile,Jamie Ford (22:48.80), Jessica Hubler (24:02.88) and Laney Tomberlin (27:33.27) rounded out the Blazers and earned 87th, 96th, and 107th place, respectively.

The Valdosta State women’s cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th in Tampa, Fla. The race is scheduled for a 7:30 a.m. start time.
