ALBANY — The Albany company that produces Snicker bars and Combos is adding another product, ‘goodnessknows’ snacks, and that will bring at least 20 more jobs to the plant, raising their payroll to almost 200.

Goodnessknows Snack Squares will soon have a global launch.

“Albany is at the center of food production in Georgia. Coupled with its logistics infrastructure, skilled work force and low cost-of-business, Albany is a first-class site for food manufacturing not just in Georgia, but in the country,” said Justin Strickland, president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission. “We are honored that Mars, a leading global company, has chosen Albany as the national production site for goodnessknows.”

“At Mars, we have been proud to call Albany home for over 50 years and are excited to play such an important role in introducing goodnessknows, bringing great taste and nutrition to people across the country,” said Mack Phillips, Albany site director for Mars Chocolate North America.

Goodnessknows is crafted with whole nuts, real fruits, toasted oats and dark chocolate. Launching nationally in August, this newest innovation from Mars Chocolate North America is part of a long-term commitment to health and well-being, that includes more choices for consumers to enjoy.

Mars Chocolate North America’s Albany factory, also produces COMBOS Brand Variety Snacks and MARATHON Energy Bars. The site also sources and roasts peanuts from local shellers to be used in SNICKERS Bars and M&M’S Brand Peanut Butter Candies. The Goodnessknows production line started running in May.

The company’s growth in the state of Georgia was assisted by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.

“I have seen first hand the caliber of this company’s corporate culture and enthusiasm for its products,” Deal said. “It is clear that Mars Inc. continues to succeed in Georgia, which speaks volumes about our skilled work force. This leading global company is able to provide work for its customers by leveraging our solid logistics infrastructure and dynamic network of companies. We look forward to continued growth.”
