VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University Campus Wellness kicked off its Fall 2016 Dine-N-Discover Series on Sept. 21 by inviting faculty, staff, and students to learn more about healthy eating on a budget.

Attendees received valuable information about how to get the most food for the money, what food groups to prioritize, how to read a nutrition label, meal preparation, and more.

Shannon Reicks, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from VSU in 2015, led the one-hour event. She currently divides her time between working as an exercise physiologist at the university-based Center for Exercise Medicine and Rehabilitation and running Holistic Health Rx, a private training and nutrition counseling business. Sponsored by South Georgia Medical Center, this free education series is one of the many ways VSU is working to promote a happier, healthier community.
