VALDOSTA – Bicycles and donuts are a perfect pair in the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority’s 4th annual Dixie Cream Donut Dash Bike Ride.
The event offers four distances for hungry cyclists. The shortest ride, the Donut Hole Sprint, is a 20-mile solo bike ride where eating donuts and doing donut-themed obstacles at rest stops deducts minutes off the rider’s finish time. The other rides are donut optional: the 35-mile Donut Dash, the 63-mile Unfrosted Dash, and the 100-mile Ultimate Glaze. The Azalea City Cyclists helped design the routes, so they are all cyclist-approved.
The Dash, which is part of the Hahira Honeybee Festival, is happening Saturday, October 1st. Cyclists can register for the event now at VLPRA’s website, www.vlpra.com. It’s $30 per person before the race and the price goes up to $40 the day of the event. Race day registrations will be accepted. Every rider gets lunch and plenty of donuts! All riders who register by September 19th are also guaranteed a shirt.
Cyclists will begin and end their ride at North Lowndes Park in Hahira. It’s located on Sonny Rogers Memorial Drive. Race day registration starts at 7:00 AM and all rides begin at 8:15 AM.
