VALDOSTA – Dr. Lahr from the Turner Art Center introduced VMS Art Club students to Jeff Mather, an Atlanta artist who works with schools and communities to create community artworks. They spent time with the Art Club students reviewing artwork and taking student ideas for an upcoming art project in our area, The Valdosta Project.
The Valdosta Project is a community art project that will be constructed in Smith Park at the intersection of MLK Blvd and Hwy 84 East in May. The project is funded by the Valdosta Public Arts Advisory Committee and the Georgia Council for the Arts. Jeff Mather will be directing the project, but it is up to the community to develop and create the piece.
