VALDOSTA — Peach State Summer Theatre season memberships are on sale now.
The deadline to purchase a season membership is Friday, June 3. The cost is $89.67 for adults and $73.62 for students and senior citizens, including all taxes and fees.
Season memberships include three individual admissions to be used as desired by the individual member with advance reservations and may be purchased by visiting the online box office link at www.valdosta.edu/psst or by mailing a check to the attention of D. Guthrie, Valdosta State University, 1500 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, Ga., 31698.
The 2016 Peach State Summer Theatre season kicks off on Friday, June 3; runs through Sunday, July 17; and features Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “Ring of Fire,” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It.” All shows will be performed at Valdosta State University’s Sawyer Theatre.
Peach State Summer Theatre, or PSST!, is Valdosta’s premiere professional summer stock theatre. Each summer, dozens of singers, dancers, technicians, managers, and creators gather on the campus of Valdosta State University for 10 weeks, and during that time, they rehearse, build, and present three musicals in rotating repertory.
The 2016 Peach State Summer Theatre season marks the 27th year of VSU producing professional theatre for the city of Valdosta, the state of Georgia, and beyond. From 1990 to 2004, VSU produced the Jekyll Island Musical Theatre Festival. In 2005, the summer theatre program was relocated to the university and renamed PSST!
The Georgia Legislature designated Valdosta State’s summer stock theatre program the Official Musical Theatre of the State of Georgia.
VSU’s Jacque Wheeler serves as the artistic director of Peach State Summer Theatre. H. Duke Guthrie is the managing director.
As a special opportunity for PSST! Season Members and purchase of patronages, the PSST! Box Office will open May 16, 2016 for 3 days exclusively for Season Members to begin redeeming the admissions they have already secured. Call or stop by the box office May 16-19, 10 am – 5 pm to select performances and seats for the summer. On these days no newpurchases will be made at the box office or by phone. On-line sales of memberships and patronages will still be available.
Starting May 19, the PSST! box office will open at 10 am for ALL transactions and reservations. On-line single ticket purchases begin May 19 as well.
