ESOL-Christmas1

VALDOSTA – Valdosta Middle School students got a small taste of different cultures before the Christmas break.

Students in the VMS English Speakers of Other Languages Program participated in a Cultural Celebration on Dec. 18, said Jennifer Steedley, director of public relations for the Valdosta City Schools.

“The students brought food and drinks associated with their culture and shared them with the class,” Steedley said. “Book companies, authors, Valdosta citizen, and people from all over the country donated enough books for each student to have eight to take home and share with their families. Games were also donated to the students and the ESOL classroom.”

The donations also helped expand the library for the ESOL program at Valdosta Middle School and S.L. Mason Elementary School, Steedley said.
