ATL United ranks top 10 cheapest MLS team to be a fan of

ATLANTA – A new study finds that Atlanta United is in the top 10 cheapest MLS team to be a fan of due to overall cost.

Ahead of the return of the MLS on Febuary 21st, brand-new index study released by Lucky Gambler reveals the cheapest and most expensive MLS Soccer teams to be a fan of. 

IGaming site, Lucky Gambler have indexed all 29 Major League Soccer Teams weighted by eight different factors that would contribute towards to the overall cost of a day out at a soccer game. 

Factors eight include; average cost of a game ticket, average cost of a jersey, median cost of a 1-night hotel stay 2 miles from the stadium, average cost of a meal at inexpensive restaurant (in city), number of hotels available (within 2 miles), average cost of a taxi (within 1 km), number of jerseys available,  average cost of a one-night stay in an Airbnb. 

Atlanta United ranks in the top ten, scoring 63.68 out of 100. An average ticket price is $143, with an average meal costing $20.

Minnesota United takes the top spot in the study as the cheapest team, with an index score of 81.91 out of 100, fans can purchase a Jersey for an average $88.21. 

Located in Saint Paul, the average cost of a ticket at the Allianz Field is $96, with the average cost of a taxi in the city costing $1.55 per km. 

FC Cincinnati is the second cheapest MSL Soccer team, scoring 72.34 out of 100 in the index, the average cost of a meal nearby is $13.50. 

The average ticket price to watch them at the TQL Stadium is $96, and a one-night stay in an Airbnb costs around $136.03. 

The third least expensive is Real Salt Lake, scoring 70.83 out of 100. Located in Sandy, the average cost of a jersey is $87.21, and a taxi ride is $2.28 in the city (per 1 km). 

Real Salt Lake has one of the cheapest average costs for a ticket, at $68. 

Columbus Crew is the fourth cheapest soccer team to be a fan of, scoring 67.32 out of 100. The average cost of a jersey is $59.38, and a night in an Airbnb $149.56. 

Ranking in the top five is Orlando City, scoring 66.53 out of 100. An average ticket price is $105, with an average meal costing $20. 

The most expensive MLS Soccer Team is New England Revolution, scoring 43.17, the average cost of a jersey is $102.04. 

The average cost of a hotel near the Gillete Stadium is $282.08 and a meal in the city costs around $24. A taxi around Foxborough costs around $2.49 per km. 

The second most expensive is Toronto FC, scoring 46.26 out of 100. An average ticket price at the BMO Field is $134, whilst a night stay in a hotel within 2 miles away is $396.91. 

The third most expensive is Charlotte FC, scoring 46.52 out of 100, the average cost of a taxi nearby is $4.97 per km. 

The New York Red Bulls rank in fourth place, scoring 46.52 out of 100. The average ticket at the Bank of America Stadium is $165. 

The fifth most expensive team is San Jose Earthquakes, scoring 51.38 out of 100. The average cost of a Quakes jersey is $93.67 and a ticket at the PayPal Park around $132. 

A spokesperson for Lucky Gambler has commented on the study findings: 

“The average cost of living in Foxborough is about 38% higher than the national average and about 11% higher than the Massachusetts state average. 

“Therefore, it doesn’t come at a surprise that New England Revolution are the most expensive team to be a fan of. 

“Whilst Minnesota United is the cheapest team, with the cost of living in Minnesota at 3% lower than the national average.  

“MLS stadiums are now above the 20,000 average fans per match threshold, but numbers vary greatly by venue. 

“When going to a soccer game, the cost of a ticket isn’t the only expense involved, as costs of travel, food, hotels can also be included. Today, even jerseys are becoming more expensive than the price of one game ticket.”
