VALDOSTA – The Valdosta High School boys cross country team has captured their first region championship in 6 years.
According to Valdosta High Cross Country Coach Ryan Kelly, the win at region gave the Cats 5 overall meet wins on the season, which will qualify the team for the state meet. The wins moved their record to 109-24 overall.
The girls team finished fourth at the region meet. That means they will be joining the boys at the state competition.
A large part of that girls team is freshman Katie Lancaster, a race winner. By winning her race, she became the first Valdosta High School individual female Region Winner in 22 years.
Coach Kelly also lauded the Valdosta Middle School Cross Country team which saw the boys team win the South Georgia/North Florida Championship.
