According to GHSA rules, schools are not allowed to practice in full pads until August 1st.
A few things have changed for the ‘cats since last year. Former Offensive Coordinator for Lowndes, Tucker Pruitt, took a job at Valdosta for the same position. Pruitt brought the spread offense to Lowndes. They ran a good bit of the spread offense at the midnight practice with the quarterbacks running and throwing the ball repeatedly.
On the offensive side of the ball, wide receivers looked fast and had great hands catching the ball. With Seth Shuman graduating, they need a new player to run the offense. During midnight practice, they had several quarterbacks practicing. Josh Belton and Hunter Holt took a couple of snaps a long with a few other quarterbacks.
On defense, the Wildcats have a few returning starters, including CB Jayce Rogers, DB Antwon Kincade and LB Zacoby McClain. During the practice, the defense looked fast and were running the field, pressuring the quarterback and making great open field tackles.
A great crowd showed up to the practice to support the ‘cats. As the practice progressed into the night, the fans got louder and louder cheering their players on. Seems like fans are excited for what Valdosta has in store for them this season.
