TIFTON — With the loss of former head coach John Reid, the Tift County High football team was in search of a leader who could continue their recent success.  They believe they have found him in new head coach Ashley Anders.

Tift County is coming of a successful season last year, earning their first trip to the GHSA playoffs in many years after posting a 7-4 record.  However, this excitement turned to disappointment when Reid announced he was leaving Tifton for Rome.

The Devils believe they have found someone to continue the current momentum in Anders, who wants to continue to build on what Reid started.

Anders has been around football his entire life.  His father coached with former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville and Anders also worked for Tuberville’s staff as a Graduate Assistant.

Anders went full time as a coach, first, at Holmes Community College, then Valdosta State, and Georgia Southern before becoming the Defensive Coordinator at Murray State.  While at Georgia Southern he worked with then-head coach Chris Hatcher, the former Valdosta State great player and coach.
