Lady Blazers Take the Win

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Lady Blazers took home the win against Mississippi College on Thursday night at the Valdosta State Complex with a final score of 67-58 in their second straight Gulf South Conference win.

Several turnovers throughout the game ultimately helped lead the ladies to victory.

Associate head coach Jennifer Grubbs said, “Early on we gave up too many transition points for them. We made that correction really through the first half which allowed them to get the lead on us in the first half,” said Grubbs.

The Lady Blazers are optimistic about the rest of the season.

Imari Simpson, 35, said “With all adversity we have been facing, we will pull through. We just have to stick together as a team,”

The Lady Blazers will take on Delta State on Saturday at the PE Complex at 6 p.m.

The Cochtaw lead throughout much of the game ultimately led to the Blazers losing.

“We just gotta keep playing hard and stick together for the next game,” said head coach Mike Helfer.
