When the VSU Lady Blazers softball team makes a statement, they really make it in a big way, recording three program milestones in a three-game sweep against Shorter University to open Gulf South Conference play this past weekend.
The #10 Blazers hit the road to take on the Hawks, playing a double header on Saturday and wrapping up the three game series on Sunday.
With their game one victory Saturday afternoon, 11-0, the team notched the 1,200th win in program history, making their record (at the time) 1,200-626-2 since the program started in 1987.

Game two of the day ended with VSU taking down Shorter 12-1, and notched the Lady Blazers 500th Gulf South Conference win, but the winning didn’t stop there. Sunday saw the team complete the sweep in a run-rule shortened game, needing just six innings to finish off the Hawks, 9-1. And in yet another milestone for the program, Head Coach Thomas Macera, in his 16th year of leading the Lady Blazers, nabbed his 300th GSC victory.
