Nathaniel Wright, affectionately called “Labby’, was born October 23, 1935, in Lowndes County, GA, to the late E.K. Wright and the late Alice Blake Wright.
He was employed as a truck driver for over 20 years at the Orvis Company. Nathaniel married the love of his life, Mrs. Bennie Ruth Holmes and to this union, three children were born. He was a very humbled man who loved deeply and worked hard to provide for his family. He loved the word of God and he was a devoted member of Southside Church of Christ.
On Friday, September 4, 2020, the Lord called Nathaniel unto eternal rest.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister: Earnestine Kier; one nephew: Larry Kier; and one brother in-law: Lester Kier.
Nathaniel Wright leaves to cherish his love and memories, his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Bennie Ruth Wright; his three children: Sharon Dickson, Nathaniel (Teresa) Wright, Jr., and Benjamin (Angela Williamson) Wright, all of Valdosta, GA; three grandchildren: Stanley Dickson of Marietta, GA, Benjamin Wright, II of Lithonia GA, and Nathaniel Wright III (Tre) of Valdosta, GA; one great-granddaughter: Za’Nya Kamari Dickson of Atlanta, GA; siblings: Lottie B. (Calvin) Orr, Ora Lee “Aunt Steve” (Calvin) Patterson; special nieces and nephews: Anthony Kier, Andre (Pam) Kier, Tracy S. Kier, Calvin (Marilyn) Orr, Linda Jean Orr, Beverly (Warren) Lee, Curtis Orr, Phyllis (Michael) Goldwire, Evonda (Alvin) Hancock, Ina Kay Tyler, Joe (Angela) Tyler, Joseph (Angela) James, Lesia (Darrel) Lane, Patricia Riley, Sheila Hall (Calvin Smith), Regina Scott, Rose Myers, Wanda (Robert) Goulborne, Calvin (Mary) Patterson, Jr., and Crystal Smith; a special cousin: Linda Ruth Sirmans; and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside for Mr. Nathaniel Wright, Sr., will be Saturday, September 12, 2020, 10:00 a.m., at the Forrest Grove Cemetery, Ousley Road, Valdosta.
Public Viewing will be Friday, September 11, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.
All those who wish to pay their respect in person must wear a mask during public viewing and at the cemetery.
