God has gained another angel in His heavenly choir.  Reverend Grace LaNell Lokey-Porter passed from this world on April 2, 2024.  She was surrounded by her loved ones in this life.  One of nine living children, she was born in Albany, Ga. on January 21, 1936 to John T. and Lillian L. Lokey. She and Vollie O. Porter married just three days after meeting in 1954 and remained steadfast in matrimony until his death in 1994. ‘Nell’ received the Lord into her heart and was baptized in 1961 becoming a minister in word and song. She was also one of the founding members of The Lokey Sisters Gospel Singing group.  Inspired by God, The Lokey Sisters traveled all over the United States spreading the message of God thru songs.

She is survived by her son Coy H. Porter (Vickie) of Morven Ga. and Roxie P. Whidden (Leroy) of Knoxville, Tn.)  She has three grandchildren: Coy M. Porter (Alicia) of Hahira, Paula P. Smith (Bryan) of Morven, and Shanna P. Cross(Stephen) of Morven.  She has 8 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.  Other surviving family include her sisters Linda Lokey Lovelace of Lake City, Fl, Janice Lokey Butler of Hahira, Ga., and brother Charles Lokey (Sharon) of Thomasville.  She had many special nieces, nephews and special friends including Betty Spires.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Leroy, infant daughter, siblings John E. Lokey, Christine L. Turnage, Frances P. Lokey, Patricia A. L. Fulghum, and Harry A. Lokey.  Family will have a memorial service for Nell at their home on April 5, 2024.
