Clarence Hitson, Jr. was born March 31, 1930, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Clarence Hitson, Sr. and the late Gertrude Hunt Hitson.
A hard worker was Clarence and you would always find him working. He was a man who loved
his wife and family. Being a good provider for his family was of great importance to him and he did
that very well. Known as a people’s person, he loved talking to people and never met a stranger.
Also, he could spot a trickster a mile away. Clarence would say, “Ain’t no good walking or riding.” At
a later age, Clarence realized his need for a Savior and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and
Savior.
Clarence loved making and saving his money. He was frugal and resourceful and was not loaning
it out without a very good cause. He thoroughly enjoyed his cars and trucks. He took great pride
in taking care of his vehicles and always kept them clean. Rain or shine, you would find him washing
his cars and trucks.
Clarence loved styling his brim hat and smoking his favorite King Edward Cigars. His favorite
past time was hanging out under the oak tree with Emmitt Bell, Will B, and Joe Boy. He also
enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, such as old westerns, Good Times, Texas Rangers, and In the
Heat of the Night.
On Saturday, March 14, Clarence was granted eternal rest from his labor on earth. In addition
parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Cecil Mae Rhodes Hitson; two children: Lorraine
Russell and Clyde Hitson; five sisters, two brothers, grandparents, and his aunts and uncles.
