
VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Wildcats defeated the Northside Warner Robins Eagles 14-6 in a defensive matchup Friday night at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
The schools went back and forth on three-and-outs in the first quarter. The ‘Cats scored first on the night after Northside muffed a Valdosta punt; the ‘Cats recovered the ball in the endzone for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
After a couple of back and forth punts, Northside went on a short drive and scored a field goal to cut the Valdosta lead, 7-3.
Just before the half ended, the Wildcats scored on a rushing touchdown by Hunter Holt to extend the lead, 14-3.
The second half was all about defense. The only score was a 28-yard field goal by Northside.
Antwon Kincade crushed any hopes of a last second drive by the Eagles when he intercepted a pass with just over a minute left in the game.
Valdosta is off next week but will resume play on October 21 away against the Lee County Trojans.
