On Thursday, August 6, NOAA will issue its routine update to the Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook as the season enters its historical peak period of mid-August through October. NOAA’s lead hurricane season forecaster will host a media teleconference to discuss the conditions in the atmosphere and ocean that will likely influence the remainder of the hurricane season.
The 2020 hurricane season is already off to a record pace with nine named storms forming by July 30, the most ever recorded since the satellite era began in 1966. The hurricane season officially ends on Nov. 30.
