Driver’s license test temporarily not required for GA teens

ATLANTA, GA – The road test requirement for teenagers applying for driver’s licenses in Georgia has temporarily been removed by the governor’s office, according to WSBTV.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 30,000 people had been backed up waiting to take the test, but now they have permission to skip it.

Qualifying teens can apply for a provisional license on the Department of Driver Services website, though they do have to provide affidavits that they have had at least 40 hours of driver training by an instructor or parent. After approval, the teens can then print out a temporary license, and their actual license will arrive via mail.
