New Bill Could Help Lower Dropout Rates in Georgia

ATLANTA, Ga. – Georgia State Representative Erica Thomas introduced a bill that would raise the current high school dropout age of 16-years-old to 17-years-old, according to 11Alive.

Thomas believes that with the passing of House Bill 783, Georgia could potentially see lower sex trafficking numbers as well. The basis for this belief is the idea that by keeping our kids in school they would essentially be kept off the streets.

Georgia’s high school graduation rate has recently reached an all-time high of 82%, Thomas hopes that passing this bill will cause for that number to be even higher.
