Georgia representatives are hitting the road and taking their messages to the voters. In Albany House Minority Leader Stacey Abrans addressed the benefits derived from military installations and the thousands of military families that call Georgia home. Abrams stressed the need for the state to be even more responsive to the needs of military men and women and the families that are left behind when deployments occur.


Congratulations go out today to Southeastern Credit Union; the banking institution has been recognized for efforts of community service. One of their latest involvements is the Fill-A-Truck food drive in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia. Southeastern was given the Dora Maxwell Responsibility Community Service Award. The food campaign continues through the end of the month.


Allen Thornhill has been selected to serve on the superintendents of schools parent advisory council. The state organization is involved in the putting in place the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. The council provides information with members of the community and schools. The Thomas County father has two children in the Thomas County School System.


Dr. Jennifer Madon a local physician has been named one of the best in the state of Georgia and honored as Georgia’s Young Physician of the Year. Her nomination came from peers around the state. She has been a pediatrician for about 10 years.
