Symanthia Price has surrendered to the authorities in Dougherty County. The grandmother indicted by a grand jury in connection with the death of her 10 year old grandson Brandon Price had been sought by law enforcement since her indictment. The allegations against her include failure to properly care for her grandson who lacked medical attention for an illness and injuries that prosecutors say led to his death.

Acting on an informant’s information Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputies have re-arrested John Robert Register Jr. He was spotted approaching a car on North Ashley Street and deputies discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding Probation Violation warrant. A K-9 Unit hit on the vehicle and a search uncovered ecstasy, cocaine and a firearm. The New Hudson Street resident faces multiple charges.

Patrick Kimbrell was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and authorities confiscated a sawed off shotgun during his apprehension. Sheriff Chris Prine stated that more charges could be forthcoming with the anticipated arrests of other suspects. A search warrant was served on a residence on Hambrick Road bear Hahira after citizens complained of suspicious activity.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety has released a report stating that the trooper who accidentally shot two if his fellow officers was Sergeant Jon Posey. The incident took place during a high speed chase of Danielle Ockstadt and her passenger Joaquim Gerry of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ashburn Police Officer Ferron Yi and Turner County Deputy Scotty Ireland were struck in the kegs by shotgun pellets. Both law enforcement officers were taken to a local hospital treated and released.  Gerry who fired multiple shots at the pursuing officers was found dead inside the vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Members of the Valdosta City School Board, local dignitaries and officials from JCI-Parrish broke ground for the start of construction for the new Valdosta High School. The 2019 class at Valdosta High will be the inaugural graduating class and the construction of the facility is funded by funds from the E-SPLOST.
The search continues for 35 year old John Wesley Walton of Naylor. He fled from a traffic stop on Old Valdosta Road into a nearby wooded area where he then stole a truck and made good his getaway. A search of his vehicle turned up methamphetamine and a handgun. Walton is considered a dangerous fugitive.
The 66th annual Ham and Egg show and sale gets underway todat with registration and product showings. A special presentation will be given by a  poultry specialist from UGA and other events are scheduled for the day. Tomorrow lunch will be served at 12 noon and the ham and egg sale begins at 1 p.m. For more information call the County Extension Office at 229-333-5185.
Officials with the Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority have closed Langdale park on North Valdosta Road for renovations. A re-opening of the recreation site is scheduled for the spring.
The Central Valdosta Development Authority meets today at 5 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the City Hall Annex. That meeting is open to the public On their agenda-reports on various projects underway in the city of Valdosta including the proposed new Wyndhan Garden Hotel to be built downtown.
The Industrial Authority is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. at their offices -103 Woodrow Wilson Drive. Project Max is on their agenda. The initiative represents a 100 million dollar investment and could bring as many as 200 jobs if the company expands as planned.
