Held at Country Oaks Golf Course, Matt Granger of Valdosta took first place in the Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions Championship. The 2016 most improved player had a 2 point lead over Jack Coffey after nine holes. On the back nine Coffey made a charge to overtake Granger but fell short by 1 point. With his win Granger also claimed first place for the overall point total and player of the year with Coffey taking second and Thomasville golfer David Beals third. Closest to pin Championship sponsored by Hooters, Wahoos and Cheddars went to Coffey. Most skins were tied between Jack Coffey and David Beals while Coffey took the most birdies award.
The 2018 season starts on Wednesday January 10 with events schedule Wednesday through Saturday. New events planned for the New Year include the Winner Take All Series, March Madness 4 ball, Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions Golf Week. Georgia Pub Links Invitational.
Starting its third year Georgia Amateur Golf Promotions will be conducting a two for one membership program through January 31, 2018. Annual membership is sixty dollars and is open to male amateur golfers twenty one years old and older. Golfers entering by January 31 will be entered into a drawing for a 2018 Golf Pass, Titleist Golf Balls, GAGP Apparel, Free GAGP 2018 Membership, paid entry into first event of the year and gift vouchers from local sponsors. As a member you will receive discounted entry- fees, hotel rates, 1 year subscription to Golf week magazine, Titleist golf balls. Additionally monthly social gatherings and post event parties with cash bar, appetizers and live entertainment are also planned. Seventy Six Events are schedule locally and throughout the state on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Noon Group, Saturday GAGP Tour and are open to GAGP members, non-members including private club members, semi private members and pub links golfers.
