MADISON Co. – A Madison County family is without a home after a fire broke out at a house in Lee on Monday night.
Firefighters responded to the residence on Rutherford Road after getting a call around 7:40 p.m.
All of the occupants of the home, two adults their children, were already out of the house when firefighters arrived.
Crews from five area fire departments managed to get the blaze under control in 30 minutes to an hour, but the house was deemed a total loss.
Crews say the flames also rekindled on Tuesday morning.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Madison County Fire Chief Bruce Jordan says they have seen several fires in the past few weeks and they are reminding residents to take extra care when cooking or using space heaters.
