VALDOSTA – More than 400 guests crowded Valdosta State University’s Student Union Ballroom on Friday night for Georgia Christian School’s annual benefit dinner, this year, featuring author and Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.

O’Reilly is the latest in a long list of well-known guests who have spoken at the GCS Annual Benefit Dinner, which began in the fall of 2008 with Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward.  The dinner quickly became the school’s largest fundraiser and went on to host former NBA star Tim McCormick, former Atlanta Brave Dale Murphy, Governor Mike Huckabee, First Lady Laura Bush, four-time Super Bowl Champion Terry Bradshaw, President George W. Bush, and Country Music Legend Vince Gill.

O’Reilly is best known for his Fox News show “The O’Reilly Factor” and his best selling books, including his latest, Killing the Rising Sun: How America Vanquished World War II Japan, which is the latest in is Killing series which included several other best-sellers: Killing Patton, Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus.

Georgia Christian School President Dr. Brad Lawson hosted a question-and-answer session with O’Reilly during the dinner. O’Reilly discussed his books, his charity’s work with veterans, the millennial generation and the current presidential election.

O’Reilly also mentioned a possible deterrent to gun violence he proposed on a recent episode of “The O’Reilly Factor,” which involved making some crimes involving guns a federal offense.

After the Q & A, O’Reilly left with a standing ovation from the audience.
