HOMERVILLE – (WCTV Eyewitness News) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether or not shots were fired at a Homerville police officer Thursday.

According to a GBI spokesperson, the Homerville Police Department requested the agency’s assistance to see if shots were fired near a police officer conducting a traffic stop late Thursday, shortly before midnight.

The officer said he heard a loud noise from a passing vehicle during the stop and thought it may have been gunfire.

No one was injured in the incident.
