FITZGERALD – A Fitzgerald man was shot and killed outside his home Thursday night, and investigators are trying to identify a suspect.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., the Fitzgerald Police Department responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the 500 block of East Ohoopee St.

Police have yet to release the name of the victim but have said he answered a knock at his door, went outside the home to talk to three individuals and was then shot, stumbling back inside the home where he died, according to reports.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to assist in the case.
