CLINCH CO. – Michael Chance Copeland, 31, an inmate that escaped over two weeks ago from the Clinch County Jail, was caught last night around the Dupont area in Clinch County, according to the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office this morning.
Copeland was found in the woods around 10:30 Monday night, East of Dupont in Clinch County, according to lead investigator Crystal Lloyd with the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office.
Lloyd says several tips came in that he was seen in the area, and K-9’s were used to track him down.
Clinch County officials say they think someone in the area was helping Copeland hide.
Lloyd says he was apprehended around 11 p.m. and transported to Ware County.
Copeland is facing several charges, including Escaping, Theft of a motor vehicle, Obstruction, Damaged government property, and Fleeing and eluding.
