The Georgia Department of Transportation issues regular warnings to motorists traveling the state’s roadways to drive cautiously through construction work sites to secure the safety of road crew workers. A Randolph County was airlifted to to a trauma center in Macon after a Highway 82 two vehicle accident. 26 year old flagman Darryl Barrows attempted to jump out of the way of a vehicle that had been rear-ended but was struck and seriously injured. The drivers of the two vehicles involved were also transported to a hospital; one of them was cited for causing the accident.

The Valdosta Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 800 block of South Lee Street in Valdosta Thursday morning. As many as 20 fire personnel were on scene. About 80 percent of the house was severely damaged by smoke and fire, causing about $58,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.

22-year-old Branden Miller and 24-year-old Ryan Adams were arrested in Albany thanks to the actions of a man who caught the would be burglars breaking into a neighbor’s home. Police were notified and the stolen electronics were recovered.

Governor Nathan Deal is expected to add two more justices to the state’s Supreme Court. He has already placed his signature on a law expanding the State Supreme Court justices from 7 to 9. Supporters say it’s good for the state’s growing population. Opponents believe it just allows Deal to pack the court with conservatives. In addition to the new justices, Governor Deal is also expected to replace two sitting justices who will likely retire before the end of his term.
