Amelia Stripling 71

TIFTON – A teacher who was caught on surveillance video knocking over a child with special needs is out of jail on bond after she was arrested.

Amelia Stripling, 71, turned herself in to police Friday, after warrants were issued for her arrest for 2nd degree cruelty to a child.

Stripling has been released on a $15,000 bond, reports WALB.

The child’s mother said Stripling thrust her knee into the little boy’s back, causing him to fall at the Tift County Pre-K Center in Tifton on March 17.

Stripling resigned the next day.

School system officials say they have no prior complaints in Amelia Stripling’s personnel file during her 22-year career with Tift County Schools.
