VALDOSTA – More Lowndes County voters cast ballots for Donald Trump than any other candidate during Georgia’s Presidential Primary on Tuesday.
With all precincts reporting, Trump received 4,279 votes. Trump nearest Republican competitor in Lowndes was Ted Cruz.

Overall, Trump fathered 38.8 percent of Georgia Republican votes. Rubio came in second with 24.5 percent. Cruz was third with 23.6 percent.
In the Democratic primary, Hillary Clinton came out on top in Lowndes.

Interestingly, Echols County was the only Georgia county to cast a majority of votes for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic Primary. Sanders edged out Clinton in Echols 36 votes to 32.
Nationally, Donald Trump won Republican primaries in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.
Ted Cruz picked up wins in Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas.
Rubio won Minnesota, the only state where Trump came in third.
Hillary Clinton won Democratic primaries in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Bernie Sanders won in Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Vermont.
