ALBANY — A man in Albany has been indicted on 23 counts related to having sex with underage girls.

Rodger Bowen, 57 of 7th Avenue in Albany, has been accused of sexual activity with underage girls, luring them with alcohol and marijuana, some as young as 13.

A report from WALB quotes Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards as saying the suspect “engaged in multiple sex acts with these teen girls…some of which were against their will.”

Charges will range from rape to aggravated assualt, child molestation and furnishing minors with alcohol.

The report states the indictment lays out a pattern of abuse over at least 4 years, whereby Bowen would offer the victims beer and drugs in exchange for sex.

Edwards says in the report, “The normal pattern is that a molester will engage in what we call ‘grooming’, that is giving the child gifts or doing things to make the child feel special, and to develop that relationship before the actual sex acts start.”

One of the teen’s parents discovered the activity and contacted Albany police.  The investigation of that information led to the indictment.  If convicted, Bowen faces possible life in prison.

Despite that, he was granted bail and was released.
