ATLANTA – A new study by Forbes Advisor ranked Georgia in the top five states of the most responsible dog owners.
Release:
Experts have confirmed cases of a new ‘mystery’ dog illness in 19 states, including Georgia, causing concern among pet parents nationwide. In some states, however, dog owners typically take their dog’s health and routine care more seriously than in others.
To uncover the states with the most responsible dog owners, a new study by Forbes Advisor analyzed 16 metrics from a survey of 10,000 dog owners. The results show that Georgia is home to the fifth most responsible dog owners nationwide.
Highlights include:
- Georgia ranked as the third-best state in the percentage of dog owners that give their pet flea/tick medication more than once a year (90%).
- The state has the 10th highest percentage of dog owners who brush their dog’s teeth at least once a week (39%).
- Georgia ranked as the 11th highest in the percentage of dog owners who report going to the vet for a check-up at least once a year (92%).
- Six of the 10 states with the most responsible dog owners are located on the East Coast.
- Three of the five states that are home to the least responsible dog owners (including Arizona, which ranked worst overall) are located in the Southwest region of the U.S.
