GBI seeks information in Georgia liquor store shooting death

WOODBURY – The GBI is seeking information in the shooting death of a 22-year-old Georgia man behind a liquor store during a fight.

At the request of the Woodbury Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Jaylen Jamal McGruder, age 22, of Pine Mountain, Georgia.

The preliminary investigation indicates at about 9:40 p.m., the Woodbury Police Department was dispatched to a parking lot behind a liquor store on Highway 85 in Woodbury in reference to a shooting. A large group of people were at this location when a fight broke out. Several people shot at each other multiple times, and McGruder was shot. 

McGruder was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in Thomaston where he died from his injuries.  

No arrests have been made at this time.
