An AJC report says Chris Carr, the Georgia Attorney General, has asked the Department of Justice for a probe into the investigation of Ahmaud Arbery’s death.

Several civil rights groups requested a federal probe after a video showing the fatal shooting of Arbery was posted online last Tuesday. While the GBI’s investigation was focused on the shooting, Carr is requesting a review of how the case was handled.

The AG’s office released a statement Sunday night, saying, “The request to the U.S. Department of Justice includes, but is not limited to, investigation of the communications and discussions by and between the Office of the District Attorney of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit and the Office of the District Attorney of the Waycross Judicial Circuit related to this case.”
