VALDOSTA – According to Sergeant First Class Jeromy Roberts, Post #31 Valdosta Troopers investigated 154 traffic crashes, resulting in 80 injuries and 3 fatalities during the month of October 2016.
SFC Roberts also said during the month of October, Post #31 Troopers had the following activity: 551 citations, 28 D.U.I. arrests, 70 Seatbelt Violation citations, 16 Child Restraint Violation citations, 38 Distracted Driving citations and 186 Speeding citations.
Post #31 Troopers also made five drug arrests and apprehended two wanted persons during the month. Troopers also had an additional seven felony arrests and recovered two stolen vehicles.
Post #31 Troopers issued 701 warnings during October and accumulated 22 hours conducting Road-Checks during the month.
SFC Roberts reminds drivers to make sure to always check your surroundings when driving. Make sure to utilize your mirrors and also physically look in areas that may be blind spots in your vehicle. When attempting to pass or make a left turn, always check your rearview mirrors for any oncoming cars in the opposite lane that have already established control of the lane before you make your turn.
Additionally always be aware of motorcycles. Motorcycles may be difficult to see when driving. Remember, “Look Twice, Save A Life”.
