NASHVILLE – The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office has released its 2015 year end report, which showed deputies responded to more than 11,000 calls last year.

Berrien County Sheriff Anthony Heath said “there is nothing routine about the day-to-day operations of a sheriff’s office.” BCSO deputies responded to an average of 32 calls a day, ranging from “property disputes to utilizing the Crime Scene Unit to work a murder,” Heath said.

Heath said the numbers released by his office do not represent all of the calls they’ve responded to but are reflective of the majority of the calls they receive.

Health also shared a few calls that stood out from 2015, including a Skunk Ape sighting near Berrien Beach, a complaint of a bright light in the sky near the moon, cows in the road way and a complaint from an individual who gave a friend money for a 30-pack of beer but only got an 18-pack.

“These are actual calls,” Heath said.
