ATLANTA — The state House has passed a bill to allow restaurants to sell alcohol on Sundays by 10:30 am instead of the current 12:30.
The bill, championed by the Georgia Restaurant Association, is intended to level the playing field in serving for Sunday Brunches. Currently, state-operated facilities and conference sites can sell alcohol before 12:30. Should this law pass the Senate and be signed into law by the Governor, all restaurants would enjoy the same privilege upon local municipal approval.
Supporters state passing the bill would mean over $100 million in business across the state. Should the bill pass it would take at least 60 days for local governments to approve sales in each municipality.
