When Paul Cribbs started his Valdosta State Farm office in 1982, he knew he wanted to serve the needs of the citizens of Valdosta in whatever way he could. That opportunity came last month when his office started participating in State Farm’s “Quotes for Good” program.
The “Quotes for Good” program was started earlier this year as a way to give back to the community. Agents can choose to participate in the program, and then select a nonprofit organization to donate to. For each household that calls Paul Cribbs’ office for a quote, he and his team will donate ten dollars to the chosen organization.
During the month of June, his office teamed up with USA Rescue Team, an organization completely made up of volunteers that work to place homeless animals in foster homes, while also paying for veterinary care and other necessities.
During the month of July, they have decided to sponsor Heather Griffin, a Valdosta native and student at Valdosta State University. After losing hearing in her right ear, she had many tests done and eventually, an MRI. In February of 2017, Heather was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 2, a condition where tumors form on the nerves leading to the inner ear.
After hearing her story, Cribbs and his team wanted to help. For every individual who calls the office and mentions the program, they will donate ten dollars to Heather Griffin’s Go Fund Me page, to help offset the costs of regular checkups and MRIs.
“We try to do things in Valdosta that we know are going to really help the community,” said Cribbs. “State Farm as a company is really involved in the “Neighborhood of Good” program. It allows us to do things for charity, churches, and organizations that provide a good foundation for our community.”
During the month of August, they will team up with the Lowndes High Georgia Bridgemen Band Boosters to raise money for the upcoming season. They will also be working with Jesus and Jam, an organization in Homerville that focuses on reaching the children of Clinch County.
