FDC Recognizes Correctional Employee Appreciation Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is pleased to recognize the unwavering commitment of Florida’s correctional professionals by celebrating Correctional Employee Appreciation Week May 3-9, 2020.
“This week of national recognition is a moment to pause and reflect on the contributions of corrections professionals. Now, more than ever, the members of our team have shown their commitment to the profession during a state of emergency. These essential staff display courage and compassion as they come to work every day despite inherent risks,” said Secretary Mark Inch. “I’m proud of the men and women who selflessly serve with the Florida Department of Corrections and exemplify the true meaning of public service.”
President Ronald Reagan first signed a proclamation in 1984, creating “National Correctional Officers Week.” This annual initiative celebrates and honors the work of correctional officers, correctional probation officers and correctional personnel and their essential role in the field of criminal justice and public safety.
