VALDOSTA— On Sunday, October 20, Ashley Lewis made the only goal in Valdosta State’s Women’s Soccer game against Delta State. What makes this 1-0 win for VSU so epic is that the shot took place in the 90th minute of the game.

Both teams had many close opportunities throughout the game with a total of 18 shots recorded as on goal. However, neither team managed to capitalize on these opportunities until last minute— literally! The frustration and tension is reflected in the 23 fouls (15 from Delta State and 8 from Valdosta State). Valdosta State Athletics recalls the following:

In the second half, the match got very chippy as three cards were awarded within the first ten minutes with the fouls mounting for both teams.

In the end, VSU was still able to pull out a victory with Ashley Lewis’ winning shot in the corner of the net off the assist from Lauren at time mark 89:22.
