Wanda Holmes Whitfield was born March 4, 1957, in Clinch County, Georgia, to the late Blanch
Holmes and the late Sammy Lee Brown.
Wanda will always be remembered for her caring heart and for having a very nice personality.
There was love in everything she did to make those around her lives worthwhile which made it
easy for all who knew her to love her. She had quite a sense of humor and loved to have fun. Her
laughter was a source of joy. She loved her family with all of her heart and was a very caring
mother, grandmother and loving wife. Wanda was truly a blessing to her family and will be
greatly missed.
Not only did she love her family, but she also loved the Lord. Wanda was a woman with a very,
very strong faith in God. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
On Thursday, December 19, Wanda was granted eternal rest.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter: Denisha Whitfield; her sister:
Tammy Harper and one grandchild.
Wanda leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories, her husband of 44 years,
Mr. Nathaniel Whitfield; two children: Artumanjus Gordon and Hope Jackson (Carl), both of
Valdosta, GA; her three brothers: Paul Holmes of Savannah, GA, Kenny Holmes of Valdosta,
GA and Sammy Lee Brown of Jesup, GA, a special cousin: Valerie White; seven grandchildren;
five sisters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Wanda Holmes Whitfield will be Saturday, December
28, 2019, 11:00 a.m., New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA.
Pastor George Blount is the Senior Pastor and will officiate.
Public viewing, Friday, December 27, 2019, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.
Interment, Pallbearers Cemetery, Valdosta, GA.
