GULF BREEZE, Fla. – One Florida man paid off the past due utility accounts of 36 families, according to WCTV.

In 1983, Mike Esmond and his three daughters spent Christmas without heat or power because he couldn’t pay his bill. This is an event that Esmond says that he will never forget, so this year the 73-year-old business owner went to Gulf Breeze, Florida to request a list of all past due accounts and paid them off. This act of kindness came to a total of $4,600.

The city of Gulf Breeze sent out cards notifying the residents of Esmond’s good deed.
