GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – Bobby Lane, 17, was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System’s Brunswick hospital following the hunting accident.

Lane was accidentally shot by his hunting companion after being mistaken for an animal in wooded area near 578 Myers Hill Road.

Fellow hunter, Hector Romero, and others took the teen to nearby Friendly Express where he was transported to the hospital via ambulance where he later died.

Lane’s cousin, Michael Rawling, wrote that Lane “was a very avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors,” on a GoFundMe page to set up help pay funeral expenses for Lane.

Deer hunters are to use bows during this season due to firearm season for deer hunting starting October 19.

It’s unclear if the friend who accidentally shot Lane will face any charges.
