SAVANNAH — Folks will be able to turn a bit more green on St. Patrick’s Days which fall on Sunday’s in Savannah.

Savannah Liquor Bill 031315The Governor has signed into law a bill which allows Savannah bars to open on Sunday during St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

The bill, Senate Bill 103, authorizes the governing authority of any city or county in Georgia to allow bars to sell alcohol on one Sunday during each calender year regardless of food sales.  The Savannah City Council had already authorized the City Manager to take action to allow bars to open this weekend, pending the expected State approval.

Deal quipped, while signing the bill before several of the Savannah legislative delegation, “this is a tee-totaling Baptist signing this into law.”

Bars can now join restaurants and liquor stores in taking advantage of the business created by the massive event each year.
