Interim Superintendent Sandra Wilcher has been named the sole candidate for the permanent position as the next Superintendent of the Lowndes County school system.

After a search that began in October, the Lowndes County Board of Education has named Mrs. Sandra Wilcher as the sole finalist for the Superintendent of Lowndes County Schools. Mrs. Wilcher is no stranger to the school system as she has served as the Interim Superintendent since June of this year. Wilcher has twenty-four years of experience in the Lowndes County School System serving in numerous leadership roles.

The naming of the sole finalist culminates an intense search activity by the Lowndes County Board of Education. The Board employed search consultants King-Cooper and Associates. With the help of the search firm, the position was advertised, thirteen applications were reviewed, candidates were screened, and interviews were conducted. The candidates included applicants from 4 states. With the naming of the sole finalist, the Board shall wait at least fourteen days before taking an official vote to employ Mrs. Wilcher as the Lowndes County Schools Superintendent.
