VALDOSTA – An illegal fire in a front yard lead Valdosta police to a 19-year-old carrying drugs and a handgun.

Released:

Arrested: Calvin Tyrese McFadden, African American male, 19 years of age, Valdosta resident

On October 15, 2022, at approximately 4:22 am., while on patrol in the 400 block of Moody Drive, Valdosta Police Officers observed a group of people standing around an illegal fire in the front yard of a residence.  While officers were speaking with the subjects on the scene, Calvin Tyrese McFadden, 19-years-of-age, provided officers with a false name and date of birth.  When officers detained McFadden, they found a handgun along with several baggies of Alpha-PVP, in his possession.

McFadden was transported to Lowndes County Jail, where he is being held on the following charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to distribute-felony;
  • Giving a false name, date of birth, or address to a law enforcement officer-misdemeanor; and
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony-felony.

“This was great proactive work by our officers in an area where we have seen an increase in crime. They thoroughly investigated a city ordinance violation, which resulted in a handgun and narcotics being removed from the street.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
